  20. Gone FishingIt wasn't a particularly cold day, though still chilly enough to warrant wearing a coat. The sky held a nearly solid covering of fluffy gray and white clouds, mostly likely laden with rain, unlikely to cause a full storm but very telling of rain. Here and there bright streams of sunlight would cut through the cloud cover, making the snow piled on the ground sparkle. It was perfect weather for a fall day, and a grand opportunity for an adventure, even if it was a small one. The recently founded Tokota ranch, one of many in the area, would be gaining a new occupant soon - this time one of the human persuasion - and all Nita wanted to do was get away from the cabin she called home. There was certainly space for another handler around – the cabin was large enough to house a small village in her opinion - and with the greater number of pups coming from other breeders around she probably could use the help, but she didn’t like the idea of sharing the space with a complete st (+15)

  24. A Rude WelcomingAlaskan days seemed to last merely a blink to Nita as it was nearly dark by the time the great cabin came into view. It was truly an absurd sight to the waterbender, three stories, entirely log built - though it didn't appear so from the inside - a dozen lavish bedrooms with as many bathrooms, the most expensive looking kitchen she had ever seen, numerous extra rooms with a variety of uses, and one smaller room dedicated to a grand piano that just happened to be bright red of all colors. All in all it was just too much for her unless she let all of the animals inside as well. Eiyu didn't seem to mind and even liked the sound of his claws clicking on the floor and snuggling into the plush carpet, but the Tokotas didn't know what to make of the house's interior. Tamina had a particular aversion to the building thus far, refusing to set foot indoors, not even inside the large barn of sorts specifically for the extra-large canines. As it was, the skittish female was still following Madge o (+17)

  33. Rite of the Hunt - Moose Hunters    “You are not going without me!” Nita shouted as she stormed out the front door of the cabin and down the steps of the porch, tromping into the snow with determined strides, following Hal and Cyrus as they carried their light packs over to the waiting Tokotas. Her insistent demeanor was somewhat laughable as a few of her steps were bogged down by snow that nearly reached her knees, but the other two handlers quickly hid their amusement as she cleared her path with a flick of her wrist. Hal had to admit she was getting better at her bending – which he referred to as water magic when she wasn’t within earshot – but it wasn’t getting any prettier just yet; the girl needed a lot more practice with a wide variety of her survival skills, bending included.
“You don’t even like the hunting trips Nita.” Hal said on a sigh, settling his pack across Mathy

  1. The Visitors                On the way home from their rather uneventful camping trip the group had fallen into silence once again. Every now and then Hal would have to steer Eadaoin to the back of the group to resolve a dispute between a few of the Tokotas, usually involving Roman in particular, but for the most part everyone was well behaved as they traveled towards home. Soon they came to the crossroads that would lead Angelica and Apocalypse, and Madison and her three Tokotas home in one direction, while Nita, Hal, Cyrus and their gaggle of canines would find their way down another road. Both men dismounted and began unsaddling the brown half mane and extended marked female, giving them affectionate pats in thanks.
“You two be good now.” Hal said to Andante and Eadaoin, then picked up his tack and moved over to where Giselle stood awaiting her turn

  5. Leaving in the Middle of Things            The early morning air was cool, the summer sun not yet high enough to begin warming the Alaskan landscape. Its first rays of light were beginning to touch the tops of the distant trees, but only the ones not currently resting in the great shadow of the mountain. There it would be several degrees cooler, but it would not matter to the Tokotas for some time yet. The warmth the coming light supplied had started to dissipate the frost that clung to the boughs of the pines and the places where the grass had sprung up from the melting snow. It was mostly quiet, the animals and creatures waking at this hour cautious and wary as they moved about at the start of their day. For the most part, weather like this was of very little consequence for a Tokota. The temperature was nearly perfect for any mane they bore – warm enough to keep a sphinx from freezing, but cool enough to provide even the shaggiest of yetis some relief from the summer (+19)
  6. Mirrors and Arrows           It was well after midnight as Hal strode down the hallway of castle, passing door after door that lead to rooms of an unknown nature and either side the sound of his boots clicking on rug covered stone floor echoing around the corridor. That evening at the castle had been filled with excitement, people and animals and all manner of creatures flooding in through the doors from all over town, decked out in all manner of finery, each one prepared to spend the evening ringing in the holiday and setting the mood for the coming year. Kelle had been overjoyed, greeting each person who came through the door warmly; she seemed particularly excited to see a man clad in red with his hood up – Hal had later learned he was appropriately called Red by the townspeople – and accompanied by a young woman with white hair. The pair were followed by a man also with white hair with a young blonde woman on his arm and a small glas (+14)

  7. The Search / Something Small          It was well before dawn and everything was quiet and still. No sound came from the barn or the house despite the golden streams of light spilling out of the open doors into the shadowy night. Fog rose from the ground in drifts carried by the wind as it whispered through the trees, carrying phantom noises all around the house. Aerick stood in the doorway of the barn with four pups between his feet. Spotting the handlers moving around inside the house through the windows on the upper floor, the curly maned male dropped his head, ushering Lumisade, Aladdin, and Amir away from the door. He paused a moment, looking over his shoulder to where Marlow still sat in the opening, staring at the snow. Something gnawed at the tokota’s gut, urging him to bring the pup inside, but a secondary impulse made him pause. He waited only a moment as he pondered it, trusting his instincts and letting the pup be.

  13. New Saddles    Mishka waited patiently, or at least as patiently as she could manage, standing with her forepaws crossed and her mind wandering off into the distance and away from where she stood with the rest of the fishing party. At the moment she and the other nine tokotas were standing clustered on the sidewalk and halfway in the road outside a large wood paneled building. None of them could read the signs posted on the front of the shop, but every time the door swung open it smelled strongly of leather and seal blubber oil. Rime and Pema had both taken to leaning against the side of the building, which seemed to have thankfully been reinforced to withstand the force of a pair of massive dires. Aegean had taken a seat right next to the door of the shop and turned her head to look inside whenever someone would go inside or leave, which seemed to be quite a lot over the course of the half hour or so they had been there. Fishing: Slow StartsBlu sat on a rock and enjoyed the wind blowing through his fur as he watched his pack mates laying in the grass beneath him talking about where they’d go for their fishing trip. They were waiting for the last two that would join them for their planned trip and Madge, Xena and Mina were excited to meet them, and were speculating whether their soon to be companions would enjoy their time with them or not. Blu rolled his eyes slightly, surely they were overthinking things. Who wouldn’t enjoy fishing? He was brought out of his thoughts by the excited voices of the females below him calling out to the two figures coming towards them. “Sorry if we’re late.” One of them said, it wasn’t a Tokota and must have been the owner of the brown male beside that had two baskets strapped to his back, the sun shining on his silver fur. “Don’t worry about it.” Xena said sitting up. “Yes, we don’t mind a bit of waiting.” Mina agreed. & (+10)

  21. Fishing for Turtles? - FishingAlar really hated water. It was the whole cat thing you know? Being a neko he didn’t get along well with water what so ever. He didn’t like drinking it, he hated showers, and what he hated the most out everything else was moving water, especially water that flowed in and out in a repetitive motion. Like this lake, he really hated this lake. Now that it was winter time he was beginning to frost over. He could see the edges of it slowly beginning to get a crystal over the sides of it. Soon it would be to dangerous to fish here at all, and he would spend his winter hunting instead of daring to come anywhere near enough to this place to get some fish. He did not want to have another encounter like he had the day that he and Asyel fell through the ice. That was something that he was never going to forget.
However there were some days when the only thing that he could do was just do what he had to, and today was on of those days. He was with several tokotas that were not his own,

  22. Catch Them Before SundownWho would’ve ever guessed that it would’ve taken them this long to try and catch a couple of deer? The tokotas met up again after finding it very hard to try and take them down. There were three tokotas, Tamina a tawny with shades of brown on her coat, and then Ariel who was a half mane. Ariel was a nice graying look to her coat, and she certainly stood out. The final tokota in the small hunting party was Lady Raven who had a black coat, some would say she was almost dark as night itself. Btu she honestly thought they were exaggerating. Regardless, the three tokotas met up to try and help out on a hunt. They hadn’t been successful at the time being, and the sun was starting to set.
“We better hurry, I even feel rushed with the sun going down. The Deer will probably go ahead and hide; we won’t see them again until the morning.” Tamina observed. Raven could tell right off the back that the both of them were very skilled hunters. She would learn a thing

  23. Teaching Others How to FishRaven was late, she felt terrible that she made the others wait around for her so badly like this. The tokota quickly raced through the forest, she quickly began to head towards the lake knowing the others would be there. They were probably worried about what had happened. But being the second in command for the pack, Raven had obligations of her own at the pack that had to be taken care of. She couldn’t help it that she got stuck there, and not to mention a few fights and arguments broke out over a few situations. Luckily she managed to help put out the fire before anyone started shedding blood all over the place. Raven couldn’t stand violence, and she knew many of the other tokotas couldn’t either.
It wasn’t long before she came out from the forest noticing the clearing in the lake. She recognized Tamina, Ariel from previous hunts and trips they had done together. But there was one other tokota there that she hadn’t recognized before. He was a large male

  28. The Calm Before the Storm“We’ve waited all day and there’s still no sign of any birds that will come.” A disappointed voice said nearby. All four of the tokotas had come out that afternoon to try and hunt and bring something home to their families. But with a whole day wasted, it seemed like this had been pointless. The tokotas that were there were the half mane, named Ariel. Then there was Tamina the brown tokota. Thirdly there was Lady Raven who was the black one. Lastly there was the elder with a white almost albino look to her coat named Sedna. She was one of the older tokotas, and the older tokota was willing to try and lend a paw towards the others. They were going to make sure they got a bird, even if it was one that was far better than not coming home with anything.
“Let’s just forget it guys there aren’t any birds coming.” Tamina said with a sigh knowing they had come a long way and they had been tracking some that flew past them. But none had ever gotte

“Yeah, Mimi insisted I bring Balth because Kight doesn’t take him too often anymore and Tamina here needs to get out more,” Slone smiled. “So where to oh fearless leader?”
“Northward, there's a special waterfall no one knows about other than a few people, thought it would be a good place for our date, plus the tokos can fish.” Stark smiled as he held onto Moon’s reins breaking in the new saddle that was going to be used for Iron Envy Castiel’s new dire.

  34. PotA || Proving WorthyTamina stood just inside the treeline looking back towards the house; numerous tokotas milled around the property but two always stood out to the formerly wild female. First there was Xena, her first and very petite child, a positive ray of sunshine among the pack they had helped to form in their new home. The second was Aladdin, nearly the spitting image of Xena, his taller stature and extensive thick barbary mane aside. The bearmarked female could not have been more proud of her family having watched her grandson rise in the ranks of the pack and earn the respect of many other tokotas. She could not help but smile watching the two of them together as Aladdin dropped his head and Xena stood up tall to nuzzle her pup’s cheek to bid him farewell for the day and offered a lick to Hal standing beside him before she turned away and began striding across the property to where her own mother stood. Her expression was not lost on the pale white buck standing beside tawny female.
