[Playful]

Pinekit is almost always in the mood to play, even at times when she probably shouldn't. She has a great tendency to get under foot around camp and into things she's not supposed to while in the throws of joy. Like many kits, her favorite games include moss-ball and on occasion tossing around a mouse before digging into it. No leaf pile or snow bank is safe once she decides to dive into it.

[Curious/Adventurous]

In addition to getting into things for fun, Pinekit is inherently curious. She likes to poke around in the dens around camp and often times wanders off a bit. So far she always keeps the camp in sight as she hasn't quite built up the confidence to go on a full size adventure, just the fun size ones. 

[Bratty]

Although she likes to be kind, Pinekit has her moments where she is very much full of herself. Usually this happens mostly around her family members such as her mother, siblings, and aunts and uncles because she doesn't want to embarrass herself in front of any other warriors. She picked up some of her mother's sass and can't help but make snide comments and assert her independence at every available opportunity. Sharing a meal-giver with all of her cousins makes her keenly aware of her share and if she thinks she isn't getting it she will complain, even if it makes Ghostsong feel bad.

[Emotional/Sensitive]

Pinekit is very attuned to her own emotions as well as others. She sometimes has a hard time controlling her emotions reactions whether they be joyful and pleasant, sadness, or rage and anger. Having such strong emotions also makes Pinekit very sensitive. She can overreact to small things.

[Self-Conscious]

Pinekit lacks a lot of confidence and is constantly seeking approval for the things she does. This makes her afraid to try new things for fear of failure. It impacts her ability to do things and focus on them without looking to someone to see if she is doing them right every few minutes. Part of her wants to grow out of it, but again she fears she won't be able to, especially in time to start her training as an apprentice.

[Affectionate]

Despite her flaws, Pinekit is incredibly affectionate towards her family. She loves to snuggle and swears she will always climb into one of her siblings' nests even when they are out of the nursery. After she has had an 'it's all about me' episode, she showers whichever family member happened to be on the sour end of the deal with compliments and I love yous.

Brief Backstory:

Prologue

Petaldance and Sirenscream met at a dark time in both of their lives. Petaldance, then Petalpaw, had been fighting with her family since the death of her younger sister, and Sirenpaw's mother had been presumed dead. They were immediately captivated by each other, and spent the day at the creek that bordered their territories trying to comfort the other.

The two kept seeing each other for moons after their initial encounter, slowly building feelings for one another. However, both were scared of the growing relationship, as both Petalpaw and Sirenpaw had grown up knowing loss and found the other too important to meet the same fate. Shortly after the two earned their full warrior names, though, Petaldance admitted her love for Sirenscream; she then proceeded to disappear for a moon. When Sirenscream found her, he discovered that she had made an attempt to leave Windclan to join him in Shadowclan and had gotten lost; Sirenscream tells the disheveled she-cat that her feelings were mutual and leads her to his clan. The two take each other as mates, and Petaldance begins a new life in Shadowclan.

Shortly before Petaldance learned of her pregnancy, though, Sirenscream made the decision to leave the clan to be with his mother, Phantomscream, who had lost her memory and had been living as a kittypet for the better part of a year. He tried unsuccessfully to persuade Petaldance to join him; Petaldance, who had just gotten settled into life in her new clan, refused, making the heartbroken decision to stay behind and split up with her mate. 

The kits were born in the midst of leaf-fall, right before the frost of winter starts to settle in. Because of Petaldance's weak condition and the weather, the birth is not without complications; Petaldance undergoes major bloodloss delivering the kits. While thankfully they are all born healthy, their mother is not in a fit enough state to nurse them on her own; as such, they are given to Ghostsong to nurse alongside her own litter and that of Appleblossom. Petaldance still takes every chance she can to visit the kits, ensuring she builds a strong relationship with the litter.

Chapter One

Pinekit was born happy and healthy, although her first few moments of life were unpleasantly cold. Soon she was tucked away into her mother's fur. She didn't get to stay there long however, but was still with family as she and her siblings were moved into their aunts nest. There she discovered many other kits, even though at the time she couldn't tell exactly what these wriggling things were. Her earliest memories are of her mother's gentle voice and soft fur, along with the constant presence of love from so many cats around her. There were warm smells and one presence who smelled both bitter and sweet; no matter the smells she was almost always happy.

 Cavepaw sat off to the other side next to Amberflight, looking over at her for any sign of directions. She seemed engrossed in watching the mock battle so he returned his attention to his siblings and Gracepaw. He was tempted to call out some advice to Bluepaw, and then Owlpaw, but bit his tongue to keep from speaking. It wasn’t his place to say anything, especially when their mentors were present; they could all practice together on their own time.

At Foxsnarl’s call he looked over at the orange tom in surprise, then down at Flurrypaw, an amused smile spreading across his face. He would of course be gentle with the smaller apprentice – she still practically looked like a kit to him after all – but this was one of her first opportunities to learn and test herself. 

“Alright, sure.” Cavepaw responded with a slight nod, standing up and stepping over to the open space where Flurrypaw was already crouched. He smirked at Stormfeather’s nickname for his daughter and hunched his shoulders a little as he crouched. “Okay, Snowflake. Do you want me to really take it easy on you?” Normally he wouldn’t tease, but he had been in a rather good mood for the better part of the day and suddenly reached forward with his white splattered paw to gently bop Flurrypaw on the nose. “Don’t look so nervous, squirt.”
