Personality:

[Invasive]~[Protective]~[Flirtatious/Charming]~[Benevolent]~[Daring/Competitive]~[Blunt/Candid/Honest]~[Loyal]

[Invasive]

Bael has very little to no regard for other's personal space bubbles most of the time. He will get right up in another cat's face until their whiskers are tangled no matter how much it bothers the other cat. Personal space was never an issue for him; he likes being close to others and will even fill his nest with leaves and other material to make if feel smaller if he can't find someone willing to share. His invasive nature goes beyond the physical as well. Gossip is fascinating to no end to Bael because he always wants to know what's going on with everyone whether it's really his business or not. He may even interrupt private conversations if it seems like something interesting is being discussed.

 [Protective]

Due to being the oldest of his litter mates, Bael has a natural protective streak over cats he sees as 'weaker' than himself, whether they actually are or not. He can even go as far as trying to control what others do to keep them out of perceived danger, even if it isn't life threatening. It is best described as a 'mother knows best' sort of attitude, though he won't try to pull anything like that with authority figures such as his parents the high ranking cats of the tribe. This behavior can make cats get irritated with him if they are bothered by the smothering concern.

[Flirtatious/Charming]

Bael almost cannot resist flirting with a she-cat, no matter her looks or personality. He doesn't even care about age sometimes. The only things that can stop him are when flirting would be wildly inappropriate such as with a very young cat, during a fight or meeting, or with a she-cat who has a devoted mate. His method usually constitutes flattery, but he will ever give a compliment if it is not genuine. Bael has been known to make a comment or two at toms as well, mostly to make them uncomfortable. His inherent need to be charming is most likely left over imprint from his sister's fawning over what they called 'romantic sensitive toms'.

[Benevolent]

Though his actions can sometimes make it seems otherwise, Bael would never intentionally hurt someone else physically, mentally, or emotionally. Although that set of morals does not extend to when he is attacked. Unless he is trying to make some kind of point to someone, if he does managed to hurt them somehow, he will immediately apologize. If there is a point to what he's said or done he will just sit there and grin until they understand. It hurts Bael to see someone else feeling less than chipper.

[Daring/Competitive]

Bael loves a challenge, even if it is just against himself. He always thinks he can improve and do better than he has before. Some of his favorite activities include races of all kinds- running, climbing, prey catching, and leaf chasing included. He also has a hard time admitting defeat and will mostly likely want a rematch if he loses which could be quite often depending on the activity.

[Blunt/Candid/Honest]

Telling the truth is very important to Bael. Despite his other feelings, he will be brutally honest even if it hurts because lying would only hurt more in his opinion. His distaste for lying even goes so far as to make him unable to get along with cats who lie, even if it's only small fibs. It also makes it hard for him to trust these cats. Truthfulness is key to trust for Bael, which can make him tend to over-share, even with other who don't have the same philosophy.

[Loyal]

Bael is very loyal to those he is closest to; he tends to rank cats with loyalty that way. For example, his sister come before friends, friends come before anyone else in the tribe, and random cats in the tribe come before strangers. These can be put out of order though, depending on what he is being asked to support. He has a tendency to become very attached to those cats that let him be.

Physical Information:

Body Type: Stocky, thickset

Height: Above average (Approx. 1' at the shoulder when standing)

Weight: Above Average (Approx. 20lbs)

Other Important Information and Facts:

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual (Although he'll make comments and such at toms just to make them squirm or to prove a point if he has one)
Status: Single, not necessarily looking for a mate for the time being, but he won't say no to flirting

Preferences: She-cats; He is a tom of varied tastes. Any fur color is beautiful to him, along with any pattern. Long fur is his favorite as it is more fun to snuggle with. He doesn't like small she-cats necessarily, but would prefer to be with someone he can feel 'manly' with.

Activity: Bael just talks and sits too close. If he's feeling particularly brave or is developing romantic feelings he isn't opposed to snuggling, but otherwise has no sexual activity. At all.

Religious Beliefs: Though he is somewhat terrified of the gods, he believes all three a necessary to keep balance, no matter what the individual god might be like. For the time being he is satisfied with the world he has and sees no reason to devote too much time to finding the Lost Things...that is unless it seems like some Gang cats are going to get it first. That's unacceptable.

Scent: Earthy, like damp soil and tree bark

Voice: Light, soft spoken at times, carries his emotions when he speaks (think Chris Hemsworth in the beginning of Star Trek)
Voice Actor: Chris Hemsworth

:bulletgreen: Likes: stargazing, snuggling, racing, squirrels, cricket song, white flowers
:bulletred: Dislikes: dishonesty, anything slimy, the Nyota Gang, toms flirting with his sisters

Brief Backstory:

Prologue

Aram and Ilah were born too two families in the Tribe who had always been very close friends. Their mothers had even given birth on the same day. The two of them spent their youngest days playing with their siblings and each other, slowly building the skills they would need for the rest of their lives along with a friendship of their own. When they became underlings, their friendship slipped a little at times as Ilah got very caught up in her training and Aram's eyes were constantly caught on a pretty she-cat or two. During the day, Ilah was swept up in the world of stalking prey and moving unseen through the undergrowth of the forest; though Aram was doing much of the same, he was distracted by the flick of a tail or the twitch of whiskers and sent of into his own fantastical dream world.

Despite their differences they would often times share evening meals and discuss their days, but Aram would always eventually wander off to spend the evening with whoever had caught his attention for the time being. Though she knew it was never anything more than flirtations and that it really shouldn't matter to her, Ilah grew ever more irritated every time he would leave until one day she couldn't stand watching his retreating form another day. She snapped at him, demanding to know why he felt the need to run off with every she-cat he saw when there was a perfectly good one sitting right in front of him.

They were both surprised at first, but after a few awkward moments of silence, they dissolved into laughter. From the day on Aram never let another she-cat tear him away from his dear friend; the time for them to advance came and went, and the two soon became mates. Many seasons later, Ilah learned that she was expecting kits.

Kithood

They soon greeted their new little family, three she-kits and tom. They affectionately called the tom "Timber" for his striped pelt. The four kits were as close as could be, always snuggling in a pile of fluffy new fur. From time to time, "Timber" would squirm to the edge of the nest, but always cried out when he got too cold away from his mother's warmth. When the kits were big enough to open their eyes, the tom's adventurous streak only grew, sending him a few steps farther from the nest everyday with is sisters slowly in tow. Eventually the four of them were racing around the camp and getting into things as kits do, always under paw when they shouldn't be.

"Timber" developed a fondness for climbing things, fascinated by the layout of the camp and its many levels. One evening in particular, he climbed up the den as high as he could get before a sense of vertigo began to come over him. Through his dizziness, he managed to look up, catching sight of the stars above him through the leafy canopy of the forest. He'd heard about Starfall from his parents before, but he felt that this was truly his first real connection to it.

Underling

When it came time for "Timber" and his sisters to become underlings, he received the letter "B". He loved the way it sounded and his mind became away with curiosity about what his final name would be now that he had this wonderful clue. It was somehow soft and sharp at the same time, which made him all the more happy with it. The idea of a balanced name made him happy. At the same time he was given his mentor, an old she-cat named Doriyah, who would teach him to be a hunter; he had briefly considered the notion of becoming a sentry, but felt that feeding the tribe was a better use of his time. She was yet another object of intense interest for "B". Doriyah was perhaps the oldest cat he had ever seen, but there was a brilliance left in her silvery eyes. Each lesson began with a short lecture that was always so full of passion he could never be bored, no matter what the topic was at the time. Most often she would talk about Starfall and The Lost Things. In her long lifetime, the old cat had lost many children and more than a few mates and lovers and she desperately longed to see them again. To her, getting to Starfall was the answer, so she was always watching and waiting for any sign from the gods, not really carrying which of the three it came from.

Doriyah's intensity fueled B's curiosity about Starfall and the gods; every day after their lessons, they would discuss the different theories they'd heard about the gods and how the Gang believed so much differently than they did. They would watch the stars appear in the sky, B counting each one until he lost track. He continued to practice his climbing and was soon skilled enough to climb to the highest branches that would bear his weight where he could better watch the stars. At one point he even ventured to wonder if the gods were up there somewhere looking back.

A few moons before he was ready to become a full hunter, B noticed his sister's giggling over something. When he asked about it, the youngest confided that one of the young toms had given her a flower earlier that day. It wasn't long after that the other two were also receiving the same attention. As the oldest, B began to feel even more protective of them and was now moderately worried about these toms doing something foolish. He needn't have worried however, because Aram was always watching. Another moon passed with B still not quite understanding what was going on until another underling, a pretty silver tabby she-cat called S, caught his eye. Thinking it was the proper thing to do, he picked a lovely white flower and offered it to her, only to be refused in favor of a violet from another older tom. Disheartened, he vowed to learn what he could about she-cats. How was he ever supposed to get a mate eventually if he didn't know how to make one feel special?

Adulthood

In the moons following, B continued his training with Doriyah until it was finally time for him to become a hunter. Along with his sisters he received his name- Bael. He wasn't sure how to feel about the name, but soon found that he enjoyed the sound of it when he though it and when other cats said it, therefore it must have been a good name. For two moons he enjoyed his new status, hunting, eating, sleeping, and watching the stars with his former mentor. He even managed to flirt with a few she-cat on occasion with some advice from his sisters.

One morning he awoke to a commotion in the middle of camp. When he came closer to investigate, he found the rest of the Tribe gathered around Doriyah's body. The old she-cat was missing a few clumps of fur and had splatters of blood on her paws, but otherwise appeared to be sleeping. The night before she'd gone out in pursuit of what she beleived to be a Lost Thing, desperate to be one step closer to Starfall. Bael was devastated over the loss of his friend and mentor, but also found his beliefs greatly altered by her death. Starfall was important, that he knew, but he intended to focus more on the real world around him while he had it. Finding the Lost Things would never be his priority...unless it was necessary to keep the Gang from getting them.

With his focus turned closer to home and away from the stars, Bael became even more of a flirt that his father had once been, but unlike Aram, he has no best friend to knock some sense into him.

Batshade stood just inside the shadowy cover of the pine trees, his blue eyes narrowed to slits as he looked out to the open field of yellowing grass that grew just beyond the border. Though he wouldn't admit it to most cats, he found the idea of being so out in the open uncomfortable to no end; being so exposed had no appeal to him whatsoever. Unfortunately for him, his better nature and decent sensibilities took over, driving him to the border for a lesson with Spiderbite. Thinking of the predicament the little she-cat was in know brought back the memories of his own sudden advancement, something he hadn't expected for many, many seasons. His situation had been a bit different however; while Spiderbite had been apprenticed as a medicine cat for barely two moons, he had had nearly four seasons' worth of training to rely on at the time. His own apprentice, the third he'd had, had more training than her.
It's like Autumnwhisper all over again. Batshade though to himself. With a slight ache in his heart, he took a deep breath to gather his resolve then stepped forward with one white splattered paw, his dark fur no longer able to latch onto shadows to hide him as he made his way towards the border.
